6 months of Claude Ultra free for open source developers

Anthropic has launched the "Claude for Open Source" program, which gives eligible developers a free Claude Ultra subscription for 6 months.
What is the program?
Accepted applicants get a free Claude Ultra subscription for 6 months, and applications are reviewed gradually.
Who can apply?
The program isn't for everyone, and you only need to match one of these cases:
- Maintainer of packages others depend on: 500 repositories depend on you, or 100 packages, or 200k combined monthly downloads.
- Core contributor or maintainer on a project that belongs to a foundation or a well-known programming language, such as the Linux kernel, Kubernetes, and Django.
- Active contributor: you wrote 100 or more merged pull requests in projects you don't own during the last 12 months.
- Community builder: one of your repositories has 20 or more external contributors with merged pull requests during the last 12 months.
- Critical infrastructure: a repository you maintain scored 0.4 or higher on the criticality score.
If you don't match the criteria exactly but you maintain a project the community depends on, the page says you can apply and explain your contribution.
How do you apply?
Apply through the official program page:
claude.com/contact-sales/claude-for-oss
What happens after 6 months?
The free subscription ends, and Anthropic sends you a message before that. If you had a paid subscription before, it comes back with the same plan and price unless you cancel it. Otherwise, your account goes back to the free plan.
An important note
Program terms may change from time to time, so confirm them on the official page before you apply.
